VAISD communicates with our community when a threat of violence has been made against any campus. There was no threat at the middle school yesterday. A student told another kid that he better not come to school. Unfortunately kids often speak without thinking through the consequences of their words, therefore as adults we must thoroughly investigate to determine credibility. After an investigation, there was no mention of weapons or any other violence toward students or staff. Since we only send something out when kids directly threaten school violence, no message was sent. After seeing the concerns of the community that was being created by the rumors, we decided to send something to our VAMS parents last night to alleviate fears. We always have the safety of our students and staff as our number one priority!
