I am honored to serve as the Principal of Van Alstyne Middle School! I received my bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University, my master's degree from Texas A&M-Commerce University, and my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. This is my 15th year in education, my 7th year in Van Alstyne ISD, and my 2nd year as principal of VAMS. I have previously taught in Allen ISD, Melissa ISD, and Van Alstyne ISD.
I have been a VA resident since 2000 along with my wonderful husband, Russell. We have 4 kids, Austin – freshman at Oklahoma Baptist University, Samantha – 10th grade, Lauren – 8th grade, and Tim – 5th grade. I enjoy watching Red Raider football, watching my kids play sports, gardening, outdoor activities, and reading. I am honored to work with a dedicated group of staff members and a wonderful group of students and parents here at VAMS!
I am proudly starting my second year as the Assistant Principal of Van Alstyne Middle School. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M-Commerce and my master’s in Educational Administration from Lamar University. Prior to arriving in VA, I taught middle and elementary school in McKinney for nine years.
My wife of 26 years, Kathleen, works at Wilmeth Elementary School in McKinney, and we have two children: William, a Computer Science senior at The University of Texas at Dallas and Kate, a senior at McKinney North High School. I enjoy fishing, camping, working with Scouting BSA and Carry the Load, good food, and hanging out with my crazy family.
I am excited to be a part of our incredible VAMS Panther team, and to continue to create a fantastic learning environment for our students and staff.
